October 31, 2009

Looks like I almost missed the October update along with the Sept. one.

I am in Norfolk now getting ready to head for St John again. I am about ready to go but the weather looks pretty bad tomorrow, Sun, so I'm planning on leaving on Mon. I am planning on heading for a point about 100 to 200 miles south of Bermuda and then south to St John. Of course that's what I planned last year an ended up going well north of Bermude. It all depends on the wind.

I have the new sails on now along with the roller furler. The furler makes it so much easier to sail. I had it in and out on the way down the Chesepeake as the winds changed and it works well. With the new sails I expect a quicker trip this year. I also put on a boom vang so I have some control over the mainsail shape. This also should help cosiderably.

I will try to remember the SPOT so my location can be tracked via the "Current Location" link on the front page. More when I get to St John.
